A2B-online Container B.V. again expands services with third container vessel from Moerdijk to Immingham and Teesport
‘Dedicated container train will arrive three times a week at Moerdijk’
`As from 3rd of June we will operate three container vessels`, says Gerard de Groot, Managing Director of A2B-online Container. `It is unbelievable what we have achieved in just one year. The existing capacity on the Immingham route was not sufficient anymore. Furthermore we wanted to increase our frequency as well, that made us to decide to charter additionally the MS `ANJA`, a 326 TEU container ship. She is owned by the Dutch company Holwerda and ideally suited for our cargo mix for both Immingham and Teesport that we will add to our services as well.`
André Mast, Sales Director of A2B-online Container continues: `This means that we will provide our customers five sailings per week to Immingham which is of course fantastic and one sailing per week to Teesport to start with.` Gerard de Groot adds: `Later this year we expect to increase the number of sailings to Teesport as well as to London Thamesport that we currently service three times a week and that is nearly full as well.`
Simultaneously to this development a dedicated container train will arrive three times a week at Moerdijk. Obviously with onward connections with our short sea services. Furthermore deep sea containers that will arrive with this train can be barged to other deep sea terminals. This is the start of Moerdijk being tri-modal, says Luc Smits, Managing Director of CCT in Moerdijk. This has been one the elements that we wanted to develop and that totally fits in the Port of Moerdijk`s strategy and vision.`
Kees Vierhouten, the main investor in A2B-online Container, concludes: `It is really a success of the whole team that includes our customers, our partners, our staff and management including the trailer division. We are really proud that we have been able to provide the market with this kind of service and developments. And by the way I have no signs that this will be the last one…’
